Bhan Kanom Thai The Original Thai Dessert - Los Angeles, CA

After our meal at Pa-Ord #3 next door, we stopped in here to see with our limited Thai Food experience what exotic desserts were offered.  Essentially everything was new and different and the names of the desserts unpronounceable to us.

Old Salt Marketplace - Portland, OR

Old Salt feels like an old comfortable pair of shoes. It feels like a welcoming restaurant should with its aged wood decor and almost bucolic atmosphere.

Anthony's Fish Grotto & Fishette - San Diego, CA

Thinking Anthony's would be  a tourist trap with commensurate quality food, we had our doubts but we were hungry.  Seeing the menu board, the prices were quite respectable given the tourist settting. We ordered through the counter service Fishette rather than the sit down Grotto.  The queue was short and the ordering efficient. Still we were leery of both quality and quantity.

Jim's Original - Chicago, IL

Being in Chicago early morning, I was looking for someplace that was possibly open 24/7.  I stumbled upon Jim's Original and it was exactly what I was hoping it would be, an eatery open 24/7 serving street food.

Popeyes - Philadelphia International Airport PHL

A southern colleague said Popeyes was really good and urged me to stop in at one for great fried chicken. As Popeyes are nonexistent in my neighborhood, I lacked the opportunity that is until I saw one at the airport today.

Nobu - San Diego, CA

Located in the Gaslamp Quarter. It's an expense account restaurant that even the company expense account won't cover.  Despite the prices, it was packed at dinner.  Tough to be rich.

Jimmy's Grotto - Waukesha, WI

Expecting Jimmy's to be located in a commercial area, Jimmy's is actually located out of sorts in an older rough for Wauskesha residential area. And at mid afternoon, despite all the cars around, it felt as if this area was deserted but Jimmy's inside was standing room only.

Stone Oven Gourmet Sandwiches - San Diego, CA

The most attractive, inviting, quick, different, and seemingly cleanest of the eateries in the Fashion Valley mall food court was Stone Oven, a new to us chain.
