For someone who's previous most challenging activity was changing a roll of toilet paper, this project was unnerving but ultimately a source of hopefully only pride of workmanship and not bragging conceited pride. Well maybe just a bit...because I felt really great and it gave me confidence to fix other things around the house. Confident but not overconfident.

I had a reader ask if I knew about a joint near Madison that cooked their burgers in lard. I didn't until I by chance ran into Wedl's reading something on the web. As I dug further, I'm sure Wedl's is what the reader had in mind.

Which is more famous? Voodoo Donuts or Randy's Donuts? Both have had national media exposure but arguably, Voodoo donuts is more famous with an almost constant long line. That's not to say Voodoo offers better donuts though.

Blue Door Pub is a neighborhood bar located in a comparatively quiet neighborhood with limited commercial business. Driving by it was easy to miss as sign isn't the most prominent from the driver's angle.
The great thing about McDonald's is that you pretty much know what you're going to get. The business model is standardized. The real difference is the workers, their attitudes, and the quality and care of the food assemblers. Do they slap it together or do they care? Sometimes the food is good, sometimes unexpectedly good but usually it's about par.
